Communicating Together – class of 2015 Parents

Grade 7′s assembly today asked the question…. When school is over where does the bully go? I t is important that students understand that it is so important that bullying behaviour is identified at school so that everyone concerned can recieve the help and guidance that they need so that they can go on to enjoy a healthy life.
We looked at the male bully someday becoming a husband and how they may inflict the same hurt,humiliation,sadness and even violence on their wife and children. Domestic violence is a real problem all over the world, a problem that is often hidden in many homes. Janis watkins, an American Citizen is here in El Salvador to try and help victims who have nowhere to go or who need help, advice and support. She and a small team of dedicated individuals have set up a Crisis Center to help women and children overcome domestic violence and in extreme cases helps by giving shelter to women and children at risk. The centre opened only last year and is growing in popularity as more women gain the confidence to come forward and ask for help.
Janis needs our help and grade 7 are going to each make a small contribution this week by bringing in one of the following

toys
childrens books
plastic chairs
little plastic tables
rice
beans
sugar
salt
powdered milk

Our aim is to provide an area for the children to eat and play whilst their mothers receive counselling.

In Lifeskills grade 7 are following an alcohol awareness programme by psychologist Eleonora Jokisch. This is a 4 week programme aimed at empowering our students to make good decisions. Parents can help at home by encouraging students to talk about alcohol and the dangers involved in consuming alcohol. As our 7th graders move into 8th, 9th grade they will be faced with these decisions and it is really important that we prepare them well in advance so that they are ready.

Yesterday Grade 7 came home with their Exam cal report cards. The copy needs to be signed by parents and returned to their tutors on Thursday 20th May

En la asamblea de hoy, el 7o grado se hizo la siguiente pregunta… Cuando el colegio termina que pasa con el bully? Es importante que los alumnos/alumnas comprendan que el comportamiento del bullying está identificado en el colegio, para que así todos los involucrados puedan recibir la ayuda y la guia necesaria para que puedan seguir disfrutando de una vida saludable.
Podemos ver al niño que molestaba a sus compañeros convertirse en un esposo y como puede reflejarse ese mismo dolor, humillación y tristeza, y aún esa violencia sobre su esposa e hijos. La violencia familiar es un problema real alrededor del mundo que muchas veces es escondido en varias casas Janis Watkins, un ciudadana estadounidense, está aquí en El Salvador tratando de ayudar a las víctimas que no tienen adonde ir, o no tienen quién les ayude, aconseje o apoye. Ella y un pequeño grupo de personas han habilitado un Centro de Crisis para ayudar a mujeres y niños/niñas a superar la violencia doméstica y en casos extremos les ayudan proveyéndoles un techo si están en riesgo. El centro abrió hace un año y esta creciendo en popularidad a medida la mujeres incrementan su confianza en venir y pedir ayuda.
Janis necesita nuestra ayuda y el 7º grado hará una pequeña contribución esta semana al traer algo de los siguientes:
juguetes
libros para niños/niñas
sillas plásticas
mesas de plástico pequeñas
arroz
frijoles
azúcar
sal
leche en polvo

Nuestro objetivo es proveer un área para niños/niñas donde puedan comer y jugar mientras sus madres reciben consejería.

En lifeskills el 7º grado están siguiendo un programa de prevención al alcoholismo por la psicóloga Eleonora Jokisch. Es un programa de 4 semanas cuyo objetivo es emponderar a nuestros estudiantes a tomar buenas decisiones. Los padres y madres pueden ayudar en casa animándo a los estudiantes a hablar acerca del alcohol y los peligros que conlleva el consumirlo. A medida los de 7º grado pasarán a 8º , 9º se enfrentarán a tomar decisiones y es muy importante que se preparen bien desde un principio para que estén listos

Ayer 7º grado llevó a casa sus reportes del Exam Cal. Esta copia tiene que ser firmada por los padres/madres y regresarlo a sus tutores a más tardar el jueves 20 de mayo.

Thankyou to all of the parents who came to support our 7th grade swimming gala! It was great to see the students so enthusiastic and we are so proud of our competitors that we have decided to award them a ROC merit at the end of cal 3 for being excellent team players!

On Wednesday 17th March students who did well in cal 2 celebrated together with a Pizza Lunch on the lawn in front of the LRC. Students arrived with their invites and sat down together to celebrate their success together with students from grade 6 and 8. 

 Successes included gaining an an average CUM at the end of cal 2 of 9.00 or above or a work skills average of 9.3 or above or a ROC merit for sports achievements in school. Congratulations to everyone!

El miércoles 17 de marzo, aquellos estudiantes que hicieron un buen trabajo durante la CAL 2 celebraron con un almuerzo de pizza frente al LRC. Los alumnos/alumnas llegaron con sus invitaciones y compartieron a celebrar su éxito junto con otros estudiantes de 6to y 8vo Grado.

El éxito incluye haber obtenido un promedio de CUM al final de la Cal 2 de 9 o más, o por un promedio en Work Skills de 9.3 o el Roc Merit por haber sobresalido en deportes de la escuela. Felicidades a todos!
